The relationship between man and woman was a leitmotif of Picasso's work, which he staged again and again: with painter and muse, boy and woman, old man and girl, a couple entwined in sexual intercourse, or simply and repeatedly in portraits of his wives.
In his life, too, he played out the motif in a variety of ways. This book explores this great theme of humanity through Picasso's work. The author focuses on the more mature Picasso, who was inspired by his partners Marie-Thérèse Walter, Dora Maar, Françoise Gilot and Jacqueline Roque.
