The reason for making a sculpture is to find a sense of being, of being in space and time. to give a meaningful form to my and our landscape.
Nature, people and society are never the real motivation: it is actually a desire to intervene and alter, it is a moral passion. Staccioli strives to resolve the conflict between the individual tininess and the immensity of the universe.
Mauro Staccioli (1937 – 2018) was an Italian sculptor. His beginnings as an artist are strictly linked to his teaching experience and to his intellectual and political activism.
