The Poets' Highway Book III is a selection of popular poetry aimed at 12 – 15 year olds.
Spanning the years from the 9th to the 20th Century, the poems are arranged by subject matter, rather than chronologically.
The book starts with a Fairy Madrigal by an unknown author, under the heading ‘Into Elfland’. The section ‘With Bird and Beast’ contains a translation of Pangur Bán, the 9th Century verse written by an Irish monk about his pet cat – “I and my white Pangur, Have each his special art …”.
